Wilkes 4-H will hold a Record Book Workshop for all interested parents and club volunteers on Wednesday, September 27 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM. The workshop will include a question and answer session where parents can get clarification on record books, as well as a detailed orientation on the forms and how to put the record books together.  Participants will go home with the supplies needed to complete record books.  Lunch will be provided. If you’d like to attend this workshopplease RSVP to Whitney by Friday, September 15

NCSU Livestock Science Camp Offered
NC State is offering the first Livestock Science Camp for youth 14-17 years old, June 19-23, 2017.  Applications are due April 15th and some scholarships are available.

During the five-day NCSU Livestock Science Camp, you will be able to receive a sneak peek of what it’s like here at NC State by staying at Wood Hall, visiting University facilities, as well as interacting with faculty, staff, and current CALS students.
Attendees will learn about the vast field of agriculture and livestock production outside of the world of veterinary medicine.  You will have the chance to participate in a variety of hands on activities like:
  • Visiting Beef and Dairy Cattle, Swine, Sheep, Goat and Horse Educational Units
  • Running laboratory experiments
  • Learning about and analyzing Meat Quality Assurance and Grading
  • Farm and Meat Processing Tours
  • Science, Technology, and Biotechnology of Livestock Industries
  • Visit the Legislative Building
  • Leadership Activities
And MOST importantly, you’ll make lots of new friends from all over the State of North Carolina.
